Porteus Pieboy was born with the rhythm coursing through his spidery veins, with legs and arms a jumping and hands a twitching to some secret tune all his own.
He is a one of a kind sculpture made from many layers of frayed and faded antique and vintage textiles over clay and wire. Each little piece of fabric carries a story of a life before Porteus and they all come together to make him such a gorgeous bloke. I love the piece of dark smokey grey lace that forms his eyebrow. It's from a very old, worn negligee that I found years ago in an antique store. He now wears it rather well don't you think. .
My sculptures are hand made in my studio nestled in the beautiful New England countryside of Australia. Each one is absolutely unique and comes with a wonderful little tale about its life and adventures. Click here to read Porteus' full story.
Porteus is a sculpture - he may look cuddly but he's not a toy. He's also available as a lovely linen cushion and tea towel.
